Save The Girl Child

Curbing the labour pain and after 280 days of nurturing the unborn in the womb; a mother gives birth to a baby. A mother experiences approximately 57 del of pain at the time of giving birth which is equivalent to 20 bones getting fractured at the same time. It isn't at all easy. After all this vigorous labour kill the child because the child is a girl. That's what happens still in some regions of the globe.

Being a youngster  of this modern era I was never concerned on such a issue, and had always anticipated that these social evils were extinct long back from our society. My anticipations and assumptions weren't much updated until I came across this man and his friend. This incident just took place a few days back when I was out on an evening stroll after being back from Bengaluru after five months. I grabbed my coffee at the same roadside vendor where I usually used to. I asked the man how was he. I didn't even know his name but always used to exchange smile and sometimes if his stall wasn't much busy just a hi-hello session. His sad face had already given me a hint that things weren't on the track. He replied his wife gave birth to a girl child some ten days back. I was excited and was about to ask him if he offered the coffee as a treat when suddenly he further added that his luck was not good. I had no hint that both the statements had any connection until another man at the stall added that giving birth to a girl is a great cause of worry. I decided not to get entangled much in their company and walked away after paying for my coffee.

I was left with a number of questions just as I walked away. I am not born and brought up in a family where we never take part in such discussions. I was never taught that a girl is only to do household chores and restrict to the kitchen. In fact, most men that I am associated with enjoy cooking. That particular moment left me in no where. I was always in favor of brutal punishments to rapists and those who dared to mutilate women. Perhaps father's like that stall-keeper and his friend are even more brutal than rapists. What do they want Mother Earth to be? Do they want the land to be filled only with men? Haven't those stupid naive's yet realized that the world without women would be just a barren and dreary battlefield? Were those men nurtured in a male womb that they forgot the dignity of a woman before making such a statement? Or, to say in a humorous tone haven't those oblivious animals ever thought that a world without women would be a pain in their ass!!

We must be proud to be in the land of Rani Laxmi Bai, Sarojini Naidu, Kanaklata, Kalpana Chawla, Irom Sharmila, Kiran Bedi and Hema Malini. Where on one hand their the fathers who are nurturing the future Kiran Bedi; on the other hand their are people like that stall keeper and his friend who are still worshiping the darkness. Instead of sitting dumb and sympathizing of foeticide, infanticide, dowry deaths and rapes we must walk ahead and help every parent how special their girl child is.

We must join the cause and start contributing. Friends, that stall-keeper and his friend weren't the only of its kind. There are many such in and around us. They need to realize and be taught what is write. Its already the 11th hour; we must wake up before the reign of Armageddon arrives.

And as for me, I have always stood at par with the Salman Khan's statement - "If ever I am blessed with a child, I hope its a girl".
