Melody of Victory

Young men, not even a beard on face,
separated by all, termed as a disgrace.
They marched ahead, with a broken heart,
they tamed mutiny, yet seeked love.
What they seeked, was a lovers cuddle,
they faced swords, and struggled in battles.
They faced cuts, groaned in pain,
they were soldiers, agreed to die virgin.
After days in battle, one fine day,
they went outnumbered, about to fall astray.
They gathered courage, went to fight back,
for death may come, yet glory shall remain.
They killed the enemies, killed to live,
they won the war, sand the melody of victory.

The Third Child

He was not born as intelligent as his brothers. His brothers scored good marks; he somehow managed to drag through the passing line. His father had high ego factors as he was a renowned man in the society. He was always disappointed upon his third child. He had a younger sister. She had faith upon her thrid brother.
"One of your child will make you proud one day," said the family astrologer to the father on a visit.
"I am sure it will be one of them", the father said pointing the two elder brothers."I have a dream to see one among them as a engineer and the other as doctor," continued the typical Indian father.
"It can be him also or the little girl," said the astrologer pointing the third child.
"She is yet to grow up and he is not competent enough to do so", said the father.
"What's wrong with him?" asked the inquisitive astrologer.
"Well he isn't as sharp as his brother's. I just hope he gets competent enought to earn fr his own living," said the father.
The third son failed in the second year of graduation. His father got furious. "I will be happy if you don't turn up on the day when I will be laid on the pyre," said the father angrily.
The third son joined the army. He realized his passion of serving the motherland.
He was on a night patrol with his team and suddenly there was an ambush. He openned fire at the miscreants. He pulled his team members who were hit by bullets to the cover by the rocks. Whenever realized a pinch of fear within he asked his team to be brave. He was short of bullets. He thought to pull the knife out and march towards the hideout of the terrorists. Suddenly they threw a grenade towards them. He volunteered to jump upon the grenade by his chest to lessen the impact upon others by taking the splinters on his chest. He died instantaneously but his bravery saved the life of his team mates.
They carried the coffin of the bravemen with the Tricolour. Thousands of people gathered at his place. The town was declaed holiday for the day. The residens of the town decided to change the name of the years old town road to his name. They also decided to put a small statue in the field beside the town health centre. The father who was just a resident of the town until the day before was now the most respected person in the entire town.
They bought his bed roll and belongings home. His mother openned the suitcase. There was a letter. She read but couldn't anounce. She handed it to the father. The letter was penned as -
Dear Dad,
If you are reading this letter ever, than I am surely resting somewhere in another world. I always wanted to hug you tightly once, but couldn't. I know that I was never a good son like my elder brothers, but believe me I always tried to be one. I am sorry I could never make you proud. I have saved some money ever since I joined the job. I would want you to take that as my contribution for my sisters education. I know you and your elder sons are rich enough but somewhere you also have a third child and its from him to his little younger sister. I will be happy if you put the fire on my pyre.
Your Son

Trrrng Trrrng Thoughts - III

Trrrng Trrrng.. the phone rings

"Hello," greeted Ishani with the universal conventional way as she picked up the call.

"Hello Ishani," as Yudhi greeted her back.

"Yudhi?" she asked with astonishment. She was shocked to receive the call at 03:25 AM in the morning.

"Yeah gorgeous, its me again. Many many happy returns of the day."

"You remember my birthday?" she asked in surprise.

"Why won't I?" he asked back. "I have been calling you up since 12' O clock," he added.

"Oh I am sorry, I didn't have your new number," she apologized without much thoughts.

"I haven't change my number for years. Both me and my contact number are the same for years."

She remained silent and he too didn't expect any answer after that. The pause went on for a while.

"I was having some issues with my boyfriend and so I didn't pick up an unknown number," she replied with a lower tone of voice.

"I am none to comment on your personal matters," replied the forever gentle Yudhi.

"He forgot my birthday just like the previous years," she broke down as she said. Her gesture proving her unconditional love for her boyfriend.

"You see, I never forgot your birthday till date," he replied. She remained silent. "Is it the reason you didn't pick up the call?" he asked.

"Yeah," she replied.

"Can you do me a favor on your birthday?" he asked.

"Please don't propose me again. I don't like to turn down your proposal every time."

"No, its not that. Even I don't like to get heart broken every now and then."

"Then what is it?"

"Can you please come down? I am getting impatient, its really hard to wait for three and half hours with an umbrella on one hand and cake on the other," he said.

"What?" she was shocked.

"Yeah. I am here since 11:45 PM. I have got your favorite Boston Cream Pie and a small gift for you. Can you please come down fast?"

She ran to the window pane. He was there.

"I love you," she didn't know how she uttered those words. It was out of excitement for that moment.

"Save that for your boyfriend. I am sure he is planning a better surprise for you tomorrow."

"I am sure he isn't," she replied as she rushed through the stairs.

She ran to hug him. He passed on the umbrella upon her so as to protect her from getting wet. Meanwhile, he could feel his shoulders get wet by her tears.

"I was here to see a smile on your face, and not for your tears."

"You haven't changed," she smiled, but the moisture in her eyes weren't over yet.

"I said you that beautiful girl."

Gloomy Valentine's day

He waited long, thought she would arrive,
every sound, every whisper that rang once in a while,
he thought she was there to be beside,
he turned his head, only to be disappointed again and again.

With winds and whispers, she was seen there,
he forgot his tiredness, hours that took test of his patience,
he stood up, spread his arms to welcome her,
deep into the warmth in his heart..

She walked towards him, bold and straight,
with every step of hers, he built a confidence,
thought forever that she was his and he was hers,
instead she walk past, he was just a stranger to her eyes..

He tried to heal himself, and yet every time broke apart,
he could not know what was wrong anyway,
was it the so called unlucky black Friday?
Or his love wasn’t meant to be his anyway?

His Love for his Mother

Away from him, they carry her,
They believe that behind this journey lies peace,
Shouting and hailing the name of Deity,
And few sobbing in grief.
There he sits holding himself stiff,
Recalling days of childhood and youth,
And also a few moments back when she was alive,
His mother’s dead and he finds it hard to believe.

“Oh young boy, get up and come along”,
As all men yell and groan at him,
He wakes up, and gets back from flashbacks,
He hops and jumps up, run towards her,
Lends his soldier to his mother,
Abiding to social norms, proving to be her heir,
He picks up and carries her towards the pyre,
Helping her pass by through the last walk of life.

He walks too far, yet feels no pain,
His head aches of some mental strain,
They place his mother next to the pyre,
She’ll vanish in the wind in a short while,
He’ll have to burn her, bring her to ash,
Fulfil the norm of being the only child,
That strange fact he fails to acquaint,
Yet he does, as he was taught to be a social child.

The priest chant prayers, he lights up the pyre,
The winds blow up, spreads the fire,
The pain of seeing his mother burn
Which he can’t hold on, better he finds to sit alone,
The fire of the pyre which was about to disappear,
He stands up, walks steadily to the pyre,
Burns up a cigarette from the fire burning his mother,
He felt he could see the last sight of her for another while.
